Borrow a tool

Often, while reading others’ scholarly work, I find myself wishing I could repurpose their code or corpora for purposes of my own, rather than re-inventing the wheel. I have code which can do the following:

• Convert TEI-encoded plays into social network graphs.
• For each node in a network (i.e., character in a social network), find its average degree of separation from all other nodes.
• Count the words spoken by each character in a TEI-encoded play.

I also offer up the datasets I have personally digitized:

• 51,090 "author genders": manually-identified gender for works in the ESTC, printed in England 1789-99
• 208 Gothic works, 1753 – 1857: bibliographic data, with “Gothic motifs” identified by Ann Tracy
• 499 Gothic works, 1753 – 1835: bibliographic data, with “Gothic types” identified by Frederick Frank
• 178 Gothic works, 1753 – 1857: bibliographic data, with “Gothic motifs” and “Gothic types”
